Great book on on pre-sales!

Working in product management for a software vendor, I've seen many pre-sales presentation and have held many pre-sales demos myself being part of my profession. Especially when not only selling software, but instead complex solutions including professional services, hard- and software can be quite challenging for any account manager out there. Not only sales cycles are usually longer, often many people are involved in the evaluation process before making a higher investment. I personally love the chapter where Mervyn George explains a typical week of a pre-sales consultant. It brings straight to the point that a great pre-sales consultant needs to be flexible in regards to schedule and location, often more challenging than for classical consultants missing the sales spirit or pure (key) account managers not having the technical deep-dive to understand the (technical) customer requirements. So, if you are also interested in both jobs, account manager and consultant, you may want to consider a profession as pre-sales consultant as well. This books gives a very good understanding how a typical day job looks like, what challenges sometimes come across etc. You can tell that Mervyn is fully passionate about his job and knows how to share his passion among others. I can definitely recommend this book this you if you'd like to understand the role pre-sales role any better. It is also a good read if you are already working in this domain and it will remind you of many similar experienced situations of an often underestimated, vital job in the software solution business.

Absolute rubbish. A glorified blog post for €7. A disgrace to ask for money for baloney like this.

This is a terrible terrible "book", and I used the term "book" very loosely. I cannot believe I actually paid for this. This is not a book but a glorified 20 minute blog read. The information contained within is basic, unauthenticated, hearsay and opinions. I would never in my wildest dreams recommend anyone spend any money on this clap trap. I Paid €7 on what appeared to be an insight to a very particular subject. The contents were simply a couple of pages of incoherent diary entries about plus some wishywashy descriptions of what the author seems to think are insight into an imaginary job.
All of the information is widely available from numbers job site, corporate sites and forums for FREE across the internet. The is nothing of ANY value in these scantly written pages.
I based my purchase on the four 5-star reviews published. Which in my opinion are completely fake. All submitted with 4 days of each other. Each lauding the books insight. Cleary a case of paid for reviews.
I will be asking for my money back from Amazon. As this is clearly an outrageous case of fraudulent publishing and reviews. And everything theta is wrong with the ebook publishing on Amazon.

A very precise book

I really wished I had read this when I first took up a pre-sales role. The book is clear and gives a very good view of the life of a Sales Engineer, something that a job description and other books which provide the tools of the trade miss. The book answers the 'What does a sales engineer actually do?' in a simple and honest way. Being in this role from the past few years, I could relate to everything that is written in this book and I recommend this to those who are planning to choose software/technical pre-sales as a career.
